City of Reno - Customer Case Study

City Of Reno engaged Ameresco to tackle aging infrastructure and budget shortfalls across 48 municipal buildings (≈1 million sq. ft.). Following a 2008 competitive selection, Ameresco performed a year-long energy audit and was retained under an Energy Savings Performance Contract to deliver energy conservation and renewable energy services, including its MyEnergyPro™ energy information system.

Ameresco implemented a $20 million, budget‑neutral program combining ARRA funds, bonds and rebates to install 210 kW of solar PV, 51 kW of wind, comprehensive lighting and HVAC/mechanical upgrades, VFDs, controls and the MyEnergyPro™ Green Energy Dashboard. The work reduced City Hall operating costs from $4.54 to $2.54 per sq. ft., is expected to save $982,684 annually, cuts about 5,403 tons CO2 per year, and included over 2,000 LED bulb replacements—delivering measurable energy, cost and environmental benefits while employing local labor.
