City of Memphis Selects Ameresco to Lead Comprehensive Led Streetlighting, Controls and Networking Project

The City of Memphis partnered with Ameresco and Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) to modernize its aging municipal street lighting. The city needed a more energy-efficient, reliable solution that could improve public safety, reduce maintenance, and support its sustainability goals, so it turned to a citywide LED streetlight upgrade with smart controls.

Ameresco implemented a conversion of more than 77,000 high-pressure sodium streetlights to LED fixtures with cellular-based networked lighting controls for remote monitoring and management. The project is expected to deliver 55% annual energy savings and cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 26,000 metric tons per year, while also improving nighttime visibility, lowering operating costs, and creating a platform for future smart city applications.
