A Ameresco Case Study
The City of Henderson engaged Ameresco to reduce energy use and costs across its growing 1.7 million sq ft municipal portfolio. Facing rising demand, the city signed an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with Ameresco that included guaranteed energy savings and renewable energy measures such as solar photovoltaic systems.
Ameresco implemented a three‑phase ESPC—upgrading building systems in phases 1 and 2 and completing a citywide lighting retrofit in phase 3—replacing over 4,000 building fixtures, installing 1,500+ occupancy sensors, retrofitting up to 28,000 streetlights with induction technology, upgrading 310+ plumbing fixtures, and adding two 30 kW solar PV arrays. The $23.1 million project produced about 11.9 million kWh in streetlight electrical savings, roughly $2,000,000 in annual energy savings, CO2 reductions of 34,929,951 pounds per year, longer lamp life (nearly 4×), GPS‑mapped assets, and savings that helped fund the project—delivered by Ameresco.
