City of Englewood - Customer Case Study

The City of Englewood, Colorado, faced aging infrastructure across 11 main buildings and limited capital to fund needed upgrades. To reduce energy costs and add renewable generation, the City partnered with Ameresco using a budget-neutral Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) and a $1.5 million solar photovoltaic (PV) power purchase agreement (PPA).

Ameresco delivered a two-tier solution: a $1.5M design-build-own-operate-maintain PV PPA on four city sites and a $1.46M ESPC that installed 12 energy conservation measures and building upgrades. Ameresco’s work is guaranteed to cut utility costs by $117,000 annually (about 23.3% electricity and 9.3% natural gas), generate over 300,000 kWh/year of solar energy, reduce CO2 emissions by roughly 1,729 tons/year, and improve facility reliability and occupant comfort.
