City Of Bristol Selects City Leap Partner To Take Action On Climate Change And Achieve Carbon Neutrality By 2030

The City of Bristol selected Ameresco as its City Leap partner to help the council achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. Faced with the challenge of decarbonizing energy across 34 ward areas and across public, commercial and residential buildings, the City engaged Ameresco (working with subcontractor Vattenfall Heat UK) to deliver energy‑efficiency upgrades, wind and solar, district heating and heat pumps, project financing, and long‑term operation and maintenance as part of a 20‑year concession.

Ameresco’s solution bundles distributed generation, energy efficiency, heat networks, storage and EV infrastructure at city scale; the program is expected to deliver c.140,000 tonnes of carbon savings in the first five years, c.£182M of zero‑carbon energy generation, c.£61M of estimated social value and c.£55M of contracts for local suppliers while creating jobs, apprenticeships and increased local investment—measurable impacts intended to accelerate Bristol’s move to net zero.
