City Centre Chilled Water Plant - Customer Case Study

City Centre Chilled Water Plant needed a centralized, energy‑efficient cooling solution to meet the cooling demands of five downtown Las Vegas properties without each owner investing in and operating their own chillers. Ameresco was engaged under a design/build, own-and-operate Energy Savings Performance Contract to deliver a District Energy Plant and to provide integrated controls and remote monitoring (including Yamas Control’s Tridium control system with Vycon Building Automation Suite) to ensure efficient, unmanned operation and accurate consumption-based billing.

Ameresco designed, built, now owns and operates the $11 million City Centre Chilled Water Plant, installing 3,600 tons of electric centrifugal chillers, variable-speed chilled-water pumps, new cooling towers, DDC energy management, and underground/aboveground piping to serve five businesses across an eight-block area. Ameresco’s solution eliminated the need for individual owners to buy and maintain plant equipment by supplying chilled water on a monthly, consumption-based basis, delivering reliable tenant comfort, remote alarming and real-time energy data while freeing owner capital and space.
