A Ameresco Case Study
Cannon Mountain engaged Ameresco to address high energy use and aging infrastructure tied to its snowmaking and mountain operations. Under a state-funded energy performance contract, Ameresco delivered an energy efficiency initiative focused on reducing consumption, lowering costs, and meeting sustainability goals while keeping the project budget-neutral.
Ameresco installed energy efficiency and conservation measures—including replacement of 388 high‑energy snow guns, 1,200 feet of water/air lines, a new pump house, a main-trunk power line, new transformers, and upgraded lighting and weatherization—which resulted in a 30% reduction in energy consumption, expected annual savings of $386,000, and more than 2.3 million pounds of annual greenhouse gas reductions. The $5.1M project is on track to pay for itself within 16 years and also increased snowmaking capacity and power reliability at Cannon Mountain.
