Ameresco Makes a Splash at City of London’s Aquatic Centre

The City of London needed to renew the aging Canada Games Aquatic Centre’s end‑of‑life mechanical systems while improving energy efficiency, indoor air quality and accessibility. The city engaged Ameresco to deliver a guaranteed energy renewal and facility‑renewal project informed by a detailed audit and life‑cycle plan.

Ameresco replaced HVAC, mechanical and filtration systems, installed a combined heat and power (CHP) system and other local generation and facility‑renewal measures, coordinating work to reopen the Centre on schedule and on budget. Ameresco’s measures cut electricity and natural gas use by 42%, reduced GHG emissions by 42% (equivalent to planting more than 34,000 trees), deliver roughly $25,000/year in CHP operational savings, and produced a project payback of under 20 years on the $6.3M investment.
