Ameresco Awarded Solar Energy and Resiliency Project at Gagetown Base by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND)

The customer, the Canadian Department of National Defence, sought to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy resilience at its 5th Canadian Division Support Base. To meet federal clean electricity targets, they partnered with vendor Ameresco to implement a large-scale solar energy solution.

Ameresco designed, engineered, and constructed an 8.9 MW ground-mounted solar energy system for the base. The solution is expected to generate 20% of the base's power, prevent 7,695 metric tons of annual carbon emissions, and save approximately CAD $1.3 million per year in utility costs. Ameresco will also provide full operations and maintenance services for the system under a 25-year contract.
