Ameresco Announces Partnership With Alaska Pacific University on Facility Replacement Project

Alaska Pacific University (APU) faced the challenge of upgrading aging infrastructure at its remote Thomas Training Center on Eagle Glacier, a premier facility for its Nordic Ski Center and Winter Olympic athlete training. The project's extreme location and goal of reducing energy consumption while improving athlete comfort required a specialized partner. The university collaborated with Ameresco, a cleantech integrator, for a facility upgrade focused on energy efficiency.

Ameresco designed and implemented a solution that included installing a new boiler, baseboard heaters, convection heaters, and water heaters. A key efficiency measure was retrofitting the existing 750-gallon water tank with a new 500-gallon model. The project, conducted at 5,500 feet above sea level, is expected to reduce the facility's energy consumption, advance wastewater treatment efforts, and deliver significant cost savings for the university upon its completion.
