A Ameresco Case Study
Amano McGann, a leading developer of parking software and equipment, needed a cost-effective, sustainable way to power and light parking meter shelters for the Norwalk Parking Authority without costly trenching for AC power. They contracted Ameresco (Ameresco Solar) to provide a renewable energy solution—a 1.12 kW photovoltaic system—to support the community’s “going green” goals and improve lot safety.
Ameresco designed and supplied a complete solar power system (panels, mounts, batteries, charge regulators, LED lights and controls) that was installed in spring 2010 to light 13 parking meter shelters (twelve single shelters and one double). The Ameresco solution proved lower cost than trenching, conserved energy through motion-sensor LED lighting, increased nighttime visibility and safety, and delivered an economical, attractive system that Amano McGann is now looking to deploy in other parking-control applications.
