4 MW Solar Garden to Generate 9.6M kWh Annually to Region Over the Next 20 Years

Yampa Valley Electric Association (YVEA), which serves nearly 27,000 customers across a 7,000-square-mile territory, sought sustainable, locally generated electricity for its communities. In partnership with Ameresco, YVEA developed the Yampa Valley Regional Solar Garden in Craig, CO — a 4 MW solar PV project designed to produce approximately 9.64 million kWh annually to serve Steamboat Springs, Craig, Hayden, Yampa and portions of Routt and Moffat counties.

Ameresco developed and installed the 4 MW-AC, 20-acre array using bifacial panels and single-axis trackers fully integrated into YVEA’s distribution system, providing community solar to Craig residents. The project is expected to generate ~9.64M kWh per year and reduce roughly 130,321 metric tons of CO2 over 20 years (equivalent to removing 29,000 passenger vehicles for one year or powering 25,357 homes for one year), improving local reliability and supporting regional growth.
