Case Study: Lemvigh-Müller achieves 25% higher capacity utilization, 15% fewer vehicles and 9.5% lower mileage with AMCS Group

A AMCS Group Case Study

Preview of the Lemvigh-Müller Case Study

Automatic planning has resulted in greater capacity utilization and a reduction in mileage and vehicles

Lemvigh-Müller, Denmark’s largest wholesaler in steel and technical installations (about 1,200 employees and €600m turnover), faced complex distribution challenges: a huge product range, large daily fluctuations in deliveries, and heavy dependence on key planners while using a traditional route planning system. To modernize planning and gain incremental, real‑time optimization, they engaged AMCS Group and adopted AMCS Group’s Intelligent Optimization solution suite / planning system.

AMCS Group implemented its planning solution—using automatic planning, difficulty codes and vehicle-product pairing, plus training and support—which allowed planners to review rather than manually build routes. The outcome: automatic planning now handles 80–85% of orders (exceeding the 75% goal), vehicles used fell by 15%, average mileage per delivery dropped 9.5%, capacity utilization per vehicle rose 25%, and planner/driver overtime and customer delivery communication improved.
