AMC Bridge's client, a provider of top 3D printing services, faced challenges with its manufacturing cost estimation system. The system lacked 3D geometry support and required extensive manual effort to prepare cost scenarios, limiting its operational performance. To overcome this and gain a competitive advantage, the client partnered with AMC Bridge to implement automatic feature recognition and transition from 2D to 3D modeling.

AMC Bridge developed two executable modules using HOOPS Exchange and Open CASCADE to upgrade the system. The solution automated the recognition of 34 manufacturing feature types from 3D CAD models and generated data for visualization. This drastically reduced the time and manual labor required to produce cost estimates, allowing the client to achieve a more efficient and robust estimation process. The modules were successfully integrated, providing the client with an essential toolset for future product development.
