Zimplistic Supports Sale of 20,000 Rotimatics Using AWS

Zimplistic, a Singapore startup, developed Rotimatic, a smart, fully automated flatbread‑making device, and needed an IT infrastructure to handle continuous IoT data, provide remote monitoring and updates, and scale rapidly. Lacking resources for on‑premises systems, the company sought a cloud solution that would let it start small, grow, and keep costs aligned with business expansion.

Zimplistic built its back end on AWS—using AWS IoT Core, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudWatch—working with AWS to follow IoT best practices and optimize costs. The result: since launching in 2017 the company sold more than 20,000 Rotimatics in under a year, generated over $20M in revenue, processed some 84 million device data packets per day, enabled remote troubleshooting and over‑the‑air updates (including new recipes), and avoided the expense of a large on‑premises IT team.
