A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Yellow New Zealand is a 400‑person digital media and marketing business that evolved from the Yellow Pages to help small and medium enterprises connect and grow online. In 2015 the company needed faster service delivery, easier scaling, automated IT and predictable costs, so it sought a public‑cloud solution to replace its on‑premises environment and support continuous innovation with minimal technical and financial risk.
Yellow selected AWS for its maturity, security and flexibility and—working with AWS architects and local partners—built a cloud platform in nine months with a DevOps‑led continuous‑delivery pipeline. Using CloudFormation, Lambda, ECS, ElastiCache and Amazon Elasticsearch (plus tools like Docker, Bitbucket and Bamboo), Yellow migrated six production apps; releases now take minutes instead of weeks, infrastructure costs and operational overhead have fallen, search response times are twice as fast (with tests showing up to 4x faster on people searches), and the platform easily scales to handle millions of searches.
