A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Xiaomi, a fast-growing mobile Internet company known for its high-end smartphones and user-driven MIUI platform, set out to launch a global app store to boost content services and scale its business internationally. The company needed a reliable, high-performance infrastructure to deliver fast download speeds worldwide and to expand quickly without large upfront investment.
Xiaomi chose AWS, deploying Linux instances on Amazon EC2, storing app packages in Amazon S3, and using Amazon CloudFront for low-latency delivery (set up in one day). The result: more than 100 million downloads within five months, download speeds 30% faster on AWS, zero upfront capital expenditure, about 50% cost savings in the first month from CloudFront, and much faster overseas response times—enabling rapid service deployment and improved user experience.
