Wynk Slashes Compute Costs for Big Data by 60% with Amazon EMR and Spot Instances

Wynk Music, the Indian music streaming service owned by Airtel Digital Ltd, needed to reduce cloud and compute costs while supporting rapid growth and improving performance. Using Amazon Web Services, it rearchitected applications into microservices on Amazon EKS and began using Amazon EC2 Spot Instances and AWS Graviton-based EC2 instances.

With help from Amazon Web Services, Wynk Music also adopted Karpenter for autoscaling and migrated analytics and database workloads to AWS Graviton, simplifying operations and improving efficiency. The results included a 70% reduction in compute instance costs, a 47% drop in API delivery costs, a 60% lower analytics platform expense, and a 20% reduction in cost per user.
