Worldreader - Customer Case Study

Worldreader is a US–European nonprofit that brings digital books to children in Africa—having delivered 100,000 e-books to 1,000 kids—and partnered with FC Barcelona to scale up to a one-million–book campaign. With the partnership expected to drive massive, unpredictable traffic and donations critical to their mission, Worldreader needed a quickly deployable, pay-as-you-go website solution that could handle spikes without crashing or wasting donor funds.

Working with AWS partner Transcend, Worldreader used AWS CloudFormation to automate multi-site deployments with auto-scaling and load balancing, enabling rapid rollout in days and zero-downtime testing. The environment scales up for demand and down to reduce costs, delivering high availability and performance, protecting donations, shortening time-to-market, and freeing funds to go toward books rather than infrastructure.
