Woodside, a global oil and gas company headquartered in Perth, moved to the AWS Cloud to break down analytics silos and speed decision-making. Previously, delivering new analytics took three to six months, and the business needed faster insights and scalable IoT monitoring to optimize operations.

By forming a Data Sciences Group and connecting its Pluto LNG facility—growing from 10,000 to 200,000 sensors—to AWS, Woodside now runs over 6,000 algorithms on live sensor data, delivering models in weeks or days instead of months. This cloud-driven approach enabled predictive use cases (such as preventing foaming in the Acid Gas Removal Unit), fostered iterative experimentation across the business, and set the stage to combine AI and IoT for even more predictive decision-making.
