A Amazon Web Services Case Study
William Hill, a UK-based betting and gaming company, needed a more scalable and cost-efficient way to support its retail, sports book, online, and mobile channels. Its legacy on-premises environment could not handle demand spikes during major sporting events, and expanding hardware was slow and cumbersome. William Hill turned to Amazon Web Services to modernize its infrastructure and improve agility.
Working with Amazon Web Services Professional Services and AWS Partner Computacenter, William Hill migrated its central infrastructure to AWS in under 8 months, choosing the best approach for each application, including VMware Cloud on AWS and native rebuilds. The results were significant: more than 80% of its applications now run on AWS, while the company also completed 120 labs and 200 learning sessions through AWS Training and Certification, totaling 45,000 minutes of hands-on learning to build cloud skills and confidence.
