Visy Boosts SAP App Server Performance by 46% Using AWS

Visy, a global packaging and recycling company with over 120 locations and 5,500+ employees, needed a more agile, cost-effective IT platform to support its business-critical SAP environment and enable future AI and IoT initiatives. Running most IT on a private cloud limited performance and innovation, so Visy sought to migrate SAP to a public cloud to improve response times and reduce capex while keeping operations uninterrupted.

Working with AWS, AWS Professional Services, and partners including Telstra and BNW Consulting, Visy moved its SAP systems onto AWS services (EC2 X1 instances, Amazon S3, EBS, and Redshift). The migration delivered a 28% faster SAP database, a 46% boost at the application server level, month-end reporting time cut in half, and SAP instance provisioning roughly 93% faster, while eliminating private-cloud refresh capex and creating a platform for AI and IoT.
