Veracode, a CA Technologies company that provides cloud-based application-security services, built Greenlight to help developers find and fix security flaws as they write code. The company needed to deliver vulnerability results in under a minute, scale to support rapidly growing scan volumes, and avoid spending developer time managing backend infrastructure.

Veracode moved Greenlight to AWS—using Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Auto Scaling, and AWS KMS (after initially running on EC2)—to adopt a serverless, managed architecture. The result: near-instant feedback for developers, seamless scaling from about 100 to 55,000 scans, deployment cadence shortened to every 15 minutes, and roughly one day of testing time saved per week.
