Vembu - Customer Case Study

Vembu Technologies, a Chennai-based company with over 2,000 service-provider partners, offers Vembu Pro Online Backup and Cloud Storage to MSPs and VARs for SMB customers. To grow beyond licensing its StoreGrid software and avoid the capital costs and limits of partner-hosted data centers, Vembu needed a highly scalable, redundant, and low-cost infrastructure that could support global expansion and variable workloads.

Vembu moved Vembu Pro onto AWS, using Amazon EC2 for backup server clusters, testing, and database hosts, Amazon S3 as the primary storage backend, and Amazon EBS for caching and persistent storage. Running about 30 EC2 instances across US and Europe reduced upfront costs and maintenance, sped multi-continent deployment, and delivered the scalability and reliability to expand market reach quickly; Vembu reports lower infrastructure overhead, faster time-to-market, and the ability to add regions on short notice.
