Vanguard Increases Investor Value Using Amazon ECS and AWS Fargate

Vanguard, a large financial services and investment management company, was modernizing decades-old on-premises infrastructure and needed a more secure, scalable, and cost-efficient way to run its growing microservices environment. Amazon Web Services implemented a managed, serverless container platform with Amazon ECS, AWS Fargate, and Fargate Spot, reducing the need to provision and manage servers and improving application isolation. The results were substantial: Vanguard cut the time to market for microservices from 3 months to 24 hours, reduced unit costs by 50%, saved hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, and grew nearly 275% since May 2020 while strengthening resiliency and scalability.
