A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Unilever, the multinational consumer goods company headquartered in London and Rotterdam, faced a digital marketing infrastructure challenge: its North America web properties were hosted in varied on‑premises data centers with different technologies and processes, slowing time‑to‑market and complicating global rollouts. IT wanted a standardized, repeatable platform to pilot campaigns in one market and quickly replicate successful campaigns across regions.
After an RFP, Unilever chose AWS and worked with CSS to build a global CMS and cloud platform (EC2, VPC, AMIs, S3, cross‑region snapshots, Auto Scaling) and a disaster recovery architecture. The team migrated 500+ sites in under five months and now runs 1,700+ properties on AWS; time to launch fell from two weeks to two days, provisioning time dropped by ~75%, and Unilever gained much greater agility, scalability, and cost transparency for its digital marketing.
