Unalis - Customer Case Study

Unalis, a Taiwan-based game developer and publisher founded in 1993, expanded into mobile games and operates UniCloud, an analytics platform for developers. As the company grew into new markets, it struggled with latency for overseas players, the need to scale from hundreds to thousands of concurrent users on short notice, high capital and operational costs for collocated data centers, and the ability to capture and analyze large volumes of gamer data while shortening development cycles.

Unalis migrated games, social services, and UniCloud to AWS (regions in Singapore and Tokyo), using services such as EC2 with Auto Scaling, RDS, S3/CloudFront, Route 53, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, SNS/SES, CloudWatch and VPC, plus AWS training and support. The move delivered fast, reliable global performance (games with up to 100,000 users), eliminated unplanned outages, reduced infrastructure staff and costs (from large upfront hardware purchases to monthly virtual-server billing), sped time-to-market, and enabled robust data capture and analytics for developers.
