A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Ultima Genomics turned to Amazon Web Services to support its mission of delivering low-cost, high-scale genomics, while handling massive data volumes, fleet management, and machine learning training. The company needed a way to store and process multiple terabytes of sequencing data per hour, gain near-real-time visibility into its machines, and create flexible development environments for testing its basecalling pipeline.
Using Amazon Web Services, Ultima Genomics built its data and development stack on Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2 G5 Instances, enabling parallel experimentation and faster ML model retraining. This helped the company accelerate innovation, troubleshoot more quickly, and support customers running large-scale genome analyses, while reducing sequencing costs to a fraction of previous levels—three to four times less than other solutions for some use cases.
