u-blox Sends Data to Millions of Devices and Optimizes Costs Using AWS IoT Core

u-blox, a provider of high-precision GNSS correction services, needed a scalable way to deliver data to an expanding base of connected devices while keeping latency low and costs under control. Using Amazon Web Services, including AWS IoT Core, u-blox modernized its PointPerfect service to support millions of devices as adoption grows.

Amazon Web Services helped u-blox implement an event-driven architecture with AWS IoT Core, AWS Lambda, AWS IoT Events, and Amazon SQS, plus retained messages to reach offline devices. The solution lowered communication bandwidth and latency, supported 3–6 cm positional accuracy and 99.9% uptime, and delivered a 20x cost optimization by charging only for actual usage instead of continuous streaming.
