Trustpilot, Building on AWS, Scales to House 190M Reviews That Help Consumers and Businesses to Make Better Decisions

Trustpilot, the online review platform, needed a scalable, flexible, and cost-effective way to handle rapidly growing traffic as reviews rose from thousands to millions per day. To support its mission of helping consumers and businesses make better decisions, Trustpilot worked with Amazon Web Services to move away from a monolithic, on-premises database setup and adopt a modern event-driven architecture.

Using Amazon Web Services, including Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, Amazon SQS, and Amazon SNS, Trustpilot scaled to more than 190 million reviews and processes about 1.5 new reviews every second. Amazon Web Services also helps Trustpilot screen 100% of reviews in near real time for compliance and fraud, allowing the company to grow reliably, handle traffic spikes, and improve productivity without sacrificing platform integrity.
