TrueMoney - Customer Case Study

TrueMoney, a subsidiary of Thailand’s True Corporation, offers a digital “smart wallet” and payment services across five Southeast Asian countries, targeting large unbanked populations. The company originally ran its own collocated data center, which was costly, slow to scale (up to three months to procure servers), underutilized outside peak periods, and required dedicated staff—limiting agility and speed to market.

TrueMoney implemented a hybrid AWS architecture—keeping core e‑wallet engines on‑premises for regulatory reasons while moving websites, web apps, and payment gateways to AWS (using Direct Connect, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail) and investing in AWS training and support. The move saved at least 3 million THB in capital costs, reduced infrastructure staffing to half of one FTE, delivered 99.9% availability, accelerated development and testing by up to three months, and positioned the company to expand across the region.
