TP ICAP Cuts IT Carbon Emissions by 31% Using AWS

TP ICAP, a London-based global markets infrastructure and data solutions provider, needed greater agility, scalability, and a lower-carbon IT strategy for its critical financial trading platforms. Working with Amazon Web Services, it began migrating more of its IT estate to the cloud to better support business growth and sustainability goals.

Amazon Web Services helped TP ICAP run about 50% of its IT estate on AWS and adopt a cloud-first approach using services such as Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, and Amazon RDS, guided by an AWS Well-Architected review and the Sustainability Pillar. As a result, TP ICAP reduced year-on-year technology carbon emissions by 31%, from 42 MTCO2 to 29 MTCO2, while improving cost optimization and tracking emissions through AWS dashboards.
