Ticketea, founded in Madrid in 2010, is a freemium event-management and ticketing platform that needed to win trust from both organizers and buyers while coping with dramatic, short-lived traffic spikes (up to 100x). Ticketea built its platform on AWS—leveraging services such as Amazon Aurora, RDS, EC2, Kinesis, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Auto Scaling—enabling DevOps automation, better performance (95th‑percentile query times improved 300–600%), and reliable handling of peak loads.
