Tibber Powers Cheaper, Greener Electricity with AWS

Tibber, a Nordic digital-first energy startup, wanted to help customers save money and use less electricity, but needed a new business model and a scalable cloud foundation to support real-time energy services. Using Amazon Web Services, including AWS IoT Core and other cloud services, Tibber built a platform that connects smart home devices, an app, and renewable energy pricing to give customers cheaper, greener electricity.

Amazon Web Services helped Tibber implement a three-part solution for buying power hourly, monitoring home energy use, and automating consumption at the lowest prices. The results have been strong: Tibber says the average customer saves about 20% on electricity bills, and the company sent more than 33 billion messages through AWS IoT Core in May 2021 while scaling customer numbers and IoT devices rapidly.
