Preview of the Thomson Reuters Case Study

Thomson Reuters - Customer Case Study

Thomson Reuters, a global provider of news and information for professional markets, needed a cloud-based analytics platform to capture, analyze, and visualize usage data across hundreds of digital products. To control costs and enrich data with document metadata, the company chose to build its own solution with strict requirements for encryption in transit and at rest, thousands-of-events-per-second throughput, elastic scaling for breaking-news spikes, minimal operational overhead, and a five-month time-to-market.

The company built Product Insight on AWS using Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Amazon Kinesis (Streams and Firehose), AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, IAM, KMS, and a secure Elasticsearch/Kibana visualization layer. The system launched two months early, delivers events to dashboards in under 10 seconds, processes up to 4,000 events per second (with plans for 10,000), has experienced no data loss thanks to failover and replication, scales automatically for traffic surges, and requires minimal administration so engineers can focus on product value and fast team onboarding.
