A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Thomas Publishing, a long-established manufacturer marketplace and content provider, needed more agility to launch products faster, reduce the burden and cost of running on-premises data centers, and upgrade Oracle-based applications without buying new hardware. The company turned to Amazon Web Services and used services including Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, and Amazon Aurora, with help from Apps Associates.
Amazon Web Services helped Thomas Publishing migrate its Oracle E-Business Suite, ThomasNet.com, and key content management and publishing applications to the cloud, including converting schema, database, and code to Aurora. The results included shutting down its largest data center and eliminating hundreds of thousands of dollars in real estate, operations, and power costs, while also cutting website provisioning time from weeks to one day and enabling more flexible, on-demand scaling.
