Taggle IoT Platform Tracks Thousands of Smart Water Sensors to Help Utilities Cut Costs

Taggle, which supports more than 50 councils and water utilities across Australia with smart water solutions, needed an IT environment that could scale reliably for growing IoT data volumes and sudden usage spikes. As the company planned to add about 80,000 more sensors, it wanted to ensure it could continue processing data for leak detection, network optimization, billing, and other applications while maintaining service levels. Amazon Web Services helped Taggle with an AWS-based platform, including Amazon Kinesis Data Streams and Amazon Relational Database Service.

Using Amazon Web Services, Taggle built a platform to stream and ingest IoT data at scale and simplify integration with third-party devices and radio networks. The solution enabled Taggle to reliably handle data from 270,000+ deployed meters and sensors, delivering more than 5 million readings daily and over 2 billion data points annually, while helping councils and water utilities cut costs and accelerate time to market.
