A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Symsoft, founded in Stockholm in 1989, provides cloud-based communications services and software to mobile operators and enterprises worldwide. Facing long lead times and the ongoing burden of buying, specifying, and supporting proprietary hardware, Symsoft launched a 2014 initiative to move deployments off physical kit and into the cloud to reduce complexity, speed rollouts, and lower costs.
Symsoft migrated its SMSC and platform components to AWS—using EC2, RDS across multiple Availability Zones, VPN connectivity, and Amazon Machine Images for fast cloning—so deployments can be started immediately and replicated quickly. The shift has all but eliminated hardware deployment tasks, cut project lead times by about 30%, increased developer agility and innovation, reduced costs customers pay, and delivered the availability and security required by demanding clients.
