Super Retail Group Enhances the Customer Experience by Moving SAP to the AWS Cloud

Super Retail Group, Australia’s seventh-largest retailer, was struggling with legacy on-premises IT that slowed page loads and limited its ability to handle surging online demand during peak events like Black Friday and Boxing Day. To improve customer experience and support rapid ecommerce growth, it turned to Amazon Web Services, using SAP on AWS to modernize its core business systems.

Amazon Web Services, working with Lemongrass, migrated and upgraded Super Retail Group’s 21 SAP applications to the AWS Cloud and added automation and DevOps capabilities with services such as Amazon EC2, AWS Lambda, and Amazon S3. The result was faster scaling, with the company able to double infrastructure capacity in five days and increase SAP computing capacity within an hour, while achieving 99.95% platform uptime and reducing POS development time from weeks to days.
