Spuul - Customer Case Study

Spuul is a Singapore-based streaming service that launched its website in 2012 to deliver Indian movies and TV shows via subscription and ad-supported models. With a 20-person team and a need to stream high-resolution video to multiple countries, Spuul faced the challenge of building a cost-effective, scalable infrastructure that could handle growing data volumes (1–1.5 GB/month), support accounting and content analytics, and provide a single dashboard to monitor the health of the business without buying expensive servers.

Spuul built its platform on AWS—using EC2 with Auto Scaling, S3, CloudFront and Brightcove Zencoder for media delivery, plus RDS, DynamoDB, EMR and Redshift (with Jaspersoft) for real-time analytics. The result: rapid launch and global low-latency streaming, automated scaling and management by a single administrator, faster, real-time reporting for business decisions, reduced infrastructure costs, and improved content security and operational agility.
