Speed 3D - Customer Case Study

Speed 3D, a Taipei-based startup founded in 2014, created Insta3D, a mobile app that converts selfies into customizable 3D avatars (with in-app purchases and 3D-printing partnerships). Facing rapid development cycles, tight budgets, global users and frequent outages and latency from a third-party host, the team needed a scalable, Linux- and Docker-friendly infrastructure to deliver a smooth, fast customer experience.

Speed 3D migrated to AWS, using EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, S3, Route 53, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS and SES to streamline rendering, deployment and storage. The move cut image-to-3D processing time from about 10 seconds to under five, delivered near 100% uptime, supported growth to more than 1 million users and ~5 TB of assets, enabled one-minute server deployments and Docker-based workflows, and eliminated server upgrade and maintenance concerns.
