SORACOM Achieves Democratization of IoT Technology with an IoT Solution on AWS, Available in over 160 Countries and Regions

SORACOM, an IoT platform provider, needed a globally scalable and highly reliable way to deliver IoT functions across more than 160 countries and regions. Using Amazon Web Services, it built its service on the cloud to support rapid growth, billions of device connections, and the security and fault-tolerance requirements of a large-scale IoT platform.

Amazon Web Services helped SORACOM implement a microservices-based architecture with services such as Amazon DynamoDB, enabling resilient communication and backend processing with automatic recovery and easier operations. With AWS Enterprise Support and cost-optimization guidance, SORACOM adopted EC2 Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, cut unnecessary services, and reduced AWS costs by about 20% in a few months while subscriber numbers kept rising; AWS also enabled automated blue/green deployments.
