Sony DADC New Media Solutions - Customer Case Study

Sony DADC New Media Solutions (NMS), under its Ven.ue brand, provides digital supply chain services to film studios, broadcasters, and content providers. NMS relied on a mission‑critical SQL Server–based supply chain application running on two on‑premises SQL Server 2008 R2 nodes in a single data center, which created disaster‑recovery risk, high I/O performance constraints, and costly seasonal hardware overprovisioning.

Working with Datavail, NMS migrated its 1 TB SQL Server environment to SQL Server 2014 on Amazon EC2 with AlwaysOn Availability Groups across three AWS Availability Zones and backups to Amazon S3. The move delivered high availability with automatic failover, on‑demand elasticity to control costs, and significant performance gains (an I/O‑heavy process was reduced from over 24 hours to under 10), freeing resources to focus on innovation and future AWS integrations.
