Solar Manager, a Switzerland-based company, helps homeowners across Europe manage solar power from appliances, heat pumps, and electric vehicles through a user-friendly app and connected monitoring device. The company needed a scalable, secure way to store and manage household energy data and optimize solar usage cost-effectively, while meeting strict privacy requirements such as GDPR.

Built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Solar Manager uses AWS IoT Core and cloud-based machine learning to predict solar production and automatically optimize energy use in the home. With AWS, Solar Manager has tripled usage in the last two years and now serves more than 6,000 homes in Europe, while encrypting customer data end to end and expanding into new markets like Germany, Austria, and soon Switzerland on AWS Europe (Zurich).
