ŠKODA Uses AWS to Predict and Prevent Production Line Breakdowns

ŠKODA, a major automotive manufacturer with a highly fragmented infrastructure, needed a better way to monitor its electric-vehicle production line and prevent unexpected breakdowns. Working with Amazon Web Services, ŠKODA adopted the MAGIC EYE solution using AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, and Amazon QuickSight to support its maintenance and analytics needs.

Amazon Web Services helped ŠKODA build a camera- and AI-based system that captures nearly 450,000 images per production cycle, analyzes them with neural networks, and alerts maintenance teams to issues before they cause stoppages. The result is a shift from reactive to proactive maintenance, with recognized defect detection across 14 defect types and 178 classes, plus improved efficiency, reduced downtime, lower costs, and a scalable platform that can be expanded across more factories.
