Sencrop Improves Sustainability in Farming by Using AWS for Its In-Field Data Application

Sencrop, a farming technology company, wanted to build a data-driven microclimate application that could help farmers make better sustainability decisions while handling massive volumes of weather and field data. To support this, it turned to Amazon Web Services, using AWS capabilities such as Amazon EMR and Amazon Aurora along with machine learning to process and store data efficiently.

Amazon Web Services helped Sencrop process data in near real time, analyze forecasts with ML, and scale its platform globally. The solution now ingests 1.5 billion weather data points daily and manages 80 TB of data, while Sencrop’s Forecast feature delivers accurate hyperlocalized predictions. In customer results, 90% of vine and potato growers reported fewer chemical spray treatments, 68% saved farm vehicle trips, 43% of Irricrop users saved water, and 76% said Sencrop improved their agro-environmental practices.
