Score Media - Customer Case Study

Score Media Ventures is the digital arm of Score Media, Inc., operating theScore TV network (in 6.8 million Canadian homes) and a portfolio of digital assets and mobile apps—ScoreMobile, ScoreMobile FC and SportsTap—that reach over three million unique users per month. VP of Technology Oliver Gayagoy says the company needed to balance rapid development cycles, high service uptime and transparent access to sports data, but was constrained by managed hosting and onsite infrastructure.

Score Media moved its stack to Amazon Web Services, using EC2 for application instances (with Elastic IPs) and Amazon RDS with read replicas for sports feeds and articles. The migration gave the company the ability to scale quickly and seamlessly, reduce downtime risk, improve operational flexibility and pursue greater cost efficiencies, with plans to adopt additional AWS services over time.
