Scania Scales Its Connected-Vehicle Solution Using AWS

Scania needed to modernize its connected-vehicle messaging platform without interrupting service, while overcoming high latency, telecom connectivity challenges, and limited on-premises scaling. Working with Amazon Web Services, Scania began redesigning its system with AWS services such as Amazon EC2, AWS Transit Gateway, and Amazon DynamoDB to keep telecom operators connected during the transition.

Amazon Web Services helped Scania migrate its entire Message Platform to the cloud and scale its message broker on Amazon EC2 C5 Instances with Amazon Kinesis for near-real-time data handling. The new platform increased capacity from 2,000 to 20,000 messages per second or more, reduced average 4G round-trip latency to about 250 milliseconds, and enabled deployments in less than a week and updates several times per week.
