Saturn Systemwares - Customer Case Study

Saturn Systemwares, founded in 2006 in India, is an IT services firm that builds web and cloud solutions for enterprises and government. The company was engaged by Kerala Police to develop the Sabarimala Virtual Q Portal to manage peak pilgrimage traffic—up to 3,000 booking requests per minute during season and near zero off-season—making an on‑premises approach prohibitively costly.

Saturn moved the portal to AWS using EC2, VPC, ELB, Auto Scaling, S3/CloudFront, API Gateway with Lambda, RDS (MariaDB), SES and CloudWatch, enabling automatic scaling and pay‑for‑use operations. The results: 99.9% availability, about 7.5 million registrations to date, a roughly 30% reduction in running costs after adopting Lambda despite a 42% increase in users, simplified billing passed to Kerala Police, and the ability to “deep freeze” the environment during off‑peak periods.
