Rent‑A‑Center, a Fortune 1000 rent‑to‑own retailer with 3,000 stores across North America, embarked on a digital transformation to let customers rent furniture and electronics online. To support a new SAP Hybris e‑commerce site the company needed a platform that delivered high performance, security, and PCI compliance while supporting rapid delivery and scalability.

Working with AWS and partner Flux7, RAC containerized Hybris with Docker on Amazon ECS, used Amazon Aurora for the database, and adopted CloudFront, VPC, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, KMS, and Auto Scaling for delivery, security, monitoring, and elasticity. The result was a production e‑commerce site launched in under six months, the ability for customers to rent online, support for 1,000% traffic spikes (e.g., Black Friday), cost avoidance versus on‑premises infrastructure, and a PCI‑compliant, DevOps‑friendly platform poised for growth.
